Cobb Estate/ Echo Mountain
Looking for a good hike? I found this really interesting trail from an article on LAist
.
It’s called The Cobb Estate, but it is also known as the “Haunted Forest”. The land was once owned by the Marx Brothers and it houses the ruins of “White City,” a vacation spot from the 1900’s that was abandoned after a series of fires and mudslides. I don’t know about you, but every part of that made me want to hike it.
Take the Sam Merril Trail following signs for the Cobb Estate. A beautiful 2-hour hike will take you up the mountain, with great views the whole way. Pack a lunch and eat it at the top. You can explore the foundations of the once-was hotel as well as all the gears and carts that would bring guests up the mountain. There are plaques around the area with pictures of what the resort used to look like.

If you are feeling ambitions, there is another 2 mile trail from there to Inspiration Point.
Either way, it’s a good workout, great views, and a little bit of history in there to mix it up. Check it out!

Runyon Canyon Yoga
I don’t care if you’ve ever done yoga or not. This is FREE! Anyone who has ever complained that they need to exercise more often, this is your chance.
Just show up with your yoga mat to any of these classes.
https://runyoncanyon-losangeles.com/?page_id=14(scroll towards the bottom)
They are outside at the base of Runyon Canyon. Parking is a bitch, so give yourself some time. Pretty much there is a class everyday at 10:30am, 2pm, 6pm. (and 8:45am on weekdays)
If you’re a beginner, I’d recommend staying more towards the back so you can get a look at what everyone else is doing. (also look at the schedule and avoid any class with Yogi Steve. He teaches more advanced classes) The people who go to these classes range from shirtless gay ripped men who can twist their bodies into ridiculous positions, to older first-timers who can’t get close to touching their toes. There is a place for you and it’s a great way to de-stress minus the crazy expensive price that yoga classes usually go for.
Did I mention it’s FREE?
Namaste.
