What To Bring

Please ensure you bring the following:

  • Mobile Phone – you can pick up a local SIM when you get here or have a look at Google Fi – an excellent option when you travel a lot. Look at converting your existing Sim over to an eSim, so you free up your physical Sim slot for a local SIM. That way you can swap between your normal phone service and a local phone/internet service like Dee and I do.
  • USB-B cord to charge phone.
  • Lightweight Waterproof Jacket (for the tropical rain)
  • Wide brimmed sunhat and sunscreen
  • Clothes (obviously)
  • Warm jacket, beanie and pants (only if doing night passages in colder climes).
  • Polaroid sunglasses for improved visibility
  • Keeper strap for sunglasses
  • Soft soled shoes (or go barefoot) for the deck, and shoes/tivas for hiking.
  • Water shoes for clambering around rocky shorelines and swimming. Dee recommends the
  • Sketchers  (yes – she does swim in them) …
  • A camera (Still and/or Video plus underwater)
  • Camera charger
  • Books and Magazines to pass away the time (but you will need to take them back when you leave) or better still a Kindle.
  • Bathers (Australian venicular; or Swim suit for you yanks) and Snorkelling Gear
  • Headlamp with white and red lights (for night watches)
  • Toileteries – make sure they are eco-friendly
  • Bug spray
  • ATM card for local money (not everywhere takes credit cards or USD)
  • Travel Insurance (that includes offshore sailing and diving if you intend doing this). Note that if you don’t have this then it becomes my responsibility as Captain (something I’m not keen on)
  • Passport and Visa
  • Own Drink Bottle for refilling from boat water (insulated is best)
  • Day pack (waterproof is good – otherwise waterproof phone cover for dinghy rides)
  • Any spare room in your bag can be used to get some of our boat gear over to us!)

We will provide the following:

Bath Towel and Beach Towel
Pillow cases and queen sized sheets
Electricity converters from European plugs to US and Australian plugs (boat has 230V so make sure anything you bring will run on this voltage).
Life jackets and tethers for ocean crossings. If you have your own favourite life jacket, please feel free to bring it.
Dive weights and tanks (we have 4 on board).
We have Two AIS personal beacons for MOB. If you have your own PLB then please bring it.
